A community face book group has taken the difficult decision to eject a “drug-addled cat” because the feline apparently offended some of its members.
The people behind the Bude Banter page confirmed that Meth Cat was regrettably banned following a number of complaints that the mangy pet was promoting drug use.
Meth Cat’s Facebook page, which has nearly 100 followers, boats of the animal’s unsavoury exploits in his hunt for a high, painting a lurid and cautionary picture of the perils of illegal drug use.
Bude Banter customer support posted on the closed group, which has more than 18,000 members: “We have had to ask Meth Cat to leave the group because some people didn’t know the difference between a joke cat and real life, and reported Meth Cat for advertising drugs.
“Yes folks we have come to that stage of 2019 where a joke fb page about a m*th addled cat offends people.”
Meth Cat – whose tag line on his own Facebook page says “All I live for is the meth and disappearing every now and again” – told Cornwall Live that she would never encourage drug use among humans.
Meth Cat told Cornwall Live: “Yes I was extremely saddened and hurt that somebody reported me for promoting drug use. I in no way condone the use of drugs amongst humans.”
Heartfelt and gutted reactions were swift and damning of those who had taken against the spoof pet page.
Among more than 80 comments, one woman wrote: “I am announcing an official period of MC mourning! Please tell MC that when I visit her next week, if she deigns to grant me an audience, I wont report her dodgy junkie behaviours or try to enforce an intervention. Please also tell the people who reported her that they are bellends of the skaggiest variety.”
Another wrote: “She stands as a warning of its use not promotion!!! For gods sake!! She should be put in the curriculum.”
There was also: “What’s next … banning fan pages for [drug dealer TV series} Breaking Bad.?”
And: “I’m offended by people who are offended by this.”
As well as: “Banter is in the title if you get offended then this ain’t the place for you SNOWFLAKE.”
Also: “Would it not be better to just remove the tw*ts who can’t cope with Meth Cat?”
Someone else wrote: “How utterly pathetic.”
And there was: “For goodness sake, the slightest bit of humour and some one gets there arse in their hand and complains. If you don’t like it don’t read it, don’t have to spoil it for others who do have a sense of humour.”
“If Meth Cat goes then I do too!! Who is with me?”
Others cited “sad times”, a “world gone mad” and bitter disappointment, with one saying “snowflakes rule”. Others professed their love for her.
