Blockchain and Crypto to Reinforce Tourism & Culture in Italy

Using their cultural strength, Italy wants to promote and use innovative technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), smart contracts, the internet of things (IoT), crypto and others to lift the capacity of territories, particularly in the tourism industry.

Italy is the first country in the whole world with much cultural influence, according to the research conducted by U.S News magazine and the University of Pennsylvania. It also has the potential to transmit culture and beauty in productions.   

A meeting was organized for sector employers’ associations; public decision makers; economic operators; operators & researchers in the cultural sector, so that they can understand these new drifts and to what extent cultural heritage; tangible & intangible facilities; reception system; and arrangement between real and apparent quality signify a factor in enhancing the character of the purposes.   

Exhausting Blockchain Opportunities   

The meeting is scheduled for April 8, and they have dubbed it “The Value of the Stars: Smart communities, blockchain and AI for the revolution of trust in tourism and culture” and will be held in the ‘European Capital of Culture 2019’ Matera.   

More topics including community, AI, machine learning, distributed ledger technology (DLT), etc., will be tackled by international speakers, as well as Basilicata Chamber of Commerce.   

Digital Tourism in Italy   

Since the sector is one of the biggest in the world, blockchain technology has been seen confidently entering and being adopted in the
market. The technology also enables the use of cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple and others. 

In addition, the Italian
digital tourism has registered more opportunities being created all aiming at boosting the economy, and the country now plans to create an effective national strategy to heighten digital currencies and further develop major projects which could add a brick to the country’s tourism industry.
