Ivanka Trump says liberal critics have ‘unrealistic expectations’ of her

Ivanka Trump says people have “unrealistic expectations” about how much sway she has with her father.

The President’s daughter — who’s reportedly tried unsuccessfully to sway her father on issues like staying in the global climate accord — griped to a British newspaper that people expect too much of her.

“Some people have created unrealistic expectations of what they expect from me. That my presence, in and of itself, would carry so much weight with my father that he would abandon his core values and the agenda that the American people voted for when they elected him. It’s not going to happen,” the First Daughter told the Financial Times.

“To those critics, shy of turning my father into a liberal, I’d be a failure to them,” Trump continued.

Trump said she wants to be judged only on the policies she’s been tasked to deal with such as workplace and gender equality issues.

“While sometimes my heart wants me to fully engage on any host of issues outside of my responsibility or expertise, I try really hard to stay in my lane and execute on the initiatives I came to D.C. to take on,” she told the paper.

The interview was published after former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton took a dig at the Trump daughter earlier this week.

Asked by Refiniery29 if Trump was complicit in her father’s actions, Clinton said if people “remain silent and just give lip service to contrary points of views, then they are part of his agenda and should be judged and held accountable for that.”
